Bryan Fuller Wants to Reboot ‘The Munsters’ ?!?!

Here’s a link to discussion about this unusual direction of Bryan.  I’m looking forward to see what he has planned.

Update: Bob Greenblatt it turns out is pushing Fuller and his remake forward.  Greenblatt is now the new head of NBC Entertainment, but when he took over at Showtime was the guy who decided not to go forward with a third season of ‘Dead Like Me’.  Of course, by that time Fuller had been pushed out as showrunner of his creation DLM back in the first season by Greenblatt’s predecessor at Showtime and management at MGM.  There were rumors that during the intense three days of whether to renew discussion/negotiations for DLM Fuller called Greenblatt to express his opinion.  What words were said only the two of them really know, and what effect that call had on Greenblatt’s decision not to go forward with the third season only Greenblatt really knows.  So nice to see the two of them getting together again.

Dead Like Me – S3 – 3 Episodes and Some Closure

But no spoilers – you’ll have to read the scripts yourself…..

I finally got around to reading 3 episodes written by Greg Lemieux – posted on his ‘Brimstone’ website – and I liked the way he’s tied together a number of open threads from the two seasons into a trilogy that tells some pretty good stories, develops the characters, and provides some badly needed closure. Even tho I respect the way the writers of the original series brought things to a close, I’m left feeling that there is still a lot of story left in the Waffle Haus reaper gang, in particular George and her family. Greg’s very well done work satisfies some of that need.  (Link to scripts inside)

Ellen Muth Sees the End…

Just read this post in the Dead Like Me Forum by DB7878 (who is now essentially running the site – a true Dead Like Me Fan!!!)

It basiclly says how Ellen Muth saw the movie as an end to the Dead Like Me franchise.

The movie, which is about iconoclastic 18-year old Georgia Lass, who is killed by falling space debris (a toilet seat from a satellite), and becomes a grim reaper. She joins a local grim reaper group and is assigned the task of helping the souls of the newly dead cross into the afterlife. Dead Like Me: Life After Death is a sequel to the Showtime series, Dead Like Me, which ran during the 2003 and 2004 seasons. After its initial run, reruns of the series could be seen on the Science Fiction channel. Jasmine Guy, Callum Blue, Joy Stevenson, and Britt McKillip reprised their television roles for the movie.

A question and answer period followed the film, during which time Muth revealed the bad news that she felt the movie represented the end of the Dead Like Me franchise.

It is sad what happed to the Dead Like Me series, it was really an amazing show. The movie tried to recapture that “magic” – getting (most) of the cast back together, but I felt that somehow it was just different. Very good! – but different.

Despite Ellens thoughts, I would still LOVE to see another Dead Like Me series – or move. There is so much they could still do.

Do you feel Ellens comments suggest the end?

Dead Like Me: Life After Death DVD

Once again Dead Like Me Online has found some great Dead Like Me news… (If you haven’t already joined their forum.. You SHOULD! All the stories, discussions, chat are hidden until you join, but you cannot beat it for Dead Like Me Talk)

Take a look at this:

The new Dead Like Me: Life After Death DVD Artwork / Cover. How cool is that? I like that it’s more in the “fun” style of the original First Season artwork, then the kind of “grim?” artwork from season 2.

The first two series are also getting new artwork to give everything the same look/feel, as well as the one package “complete collection”.

I cannot say if this is the 100% genuine artwork that will be used for the dvd’s. It could just be really good fan art.

What do you think? Are you happy with the new design? Always like to read others comments.

Dead Like Me Movie Set Back… D’oh!!

Homer Dead Like Me Doh

Here’s something you really didn’t want to hear – The Dead Like Me Movie has been pushed back to 2009!!

Quoted from ellen-muth.com:

We’ve just had word that the movie of Dead Like Me has been moved back to 2009. At this stage it’s too early to say for sure when in 2009, but hopefully it will be early 2009! On the plus side Ellen has finished the entire 90 minute commentary with the director in one day! If we hear any more we’ll be sure to let you know.

This is a real setback – and we could really do with a reason (although, I’m sure we wont get one). From that statement we can see that: A: The movie is complete, B: The rerecording that needed to be done is now finished. C: Even the DVD extra features commentaries are complete. (90mins length of the film?)

What exactly is the hold up??? What can possibly take 6 months to complete?

I think Homer Simpson has the best way to describe the news: “D’oh!”

Please feel free to fill the comments with your pain. Go on… let it out. You’ll feel better.
