Dead Like Me: Life After Death DVD

Once again Dead Like Me Online has found some great Dead Like Me news… (If you haven’t already joined their forum.. You SHOULD! All the stories, discussions, chat are hidden until you join, but you cannot beat it for Dead Like Me Talk)

Take a look at this:

The new Dead Like Me: Life After Death DVD Artwork / Cover. How cool is that? I like that it’s more in the “fun” style of the original First Season artwork, then the kind of “grim?” artwork from season 2.

The first two series are also getting new artwork to give everything the same look/feel, as well as the one package “complete collection”.

I cannot say if this is the 100% genuine artwork that will be used for the dvd’s. It could just be really good fan art.

What do you think? Are you happy with the new design? Always like to read others comments.

Hopefully they’ll sort that out soon, but until then.. Keep checking

Dead Like Me Movie Set Back… D’oh!!

Homer Dead Like Me Doh

Here’s something you really didn’t want to hear – The Dead Like Me Movie has been pushed back to 2009!!

Quoted from ellen-muth.com:

We’ve just had word that the movie of Dead Like Me has been moved back to 2009. At this stage it’s too early to say for sure when in 2009, but hopefully it will be early 2009! On the plus side Ellen has finished the entire 90 minute commentary with the director in one day! If we hear any more we’ll be sure to let you know.

This is a real setback – and we could really do with a reason (although, I’m sure we wont get one). From that statement we can see that: A: The movie is complete, B: The rerecording that needed to be done is now finished. C: Even the DVD extra features commentaries are complete. (90mins length of the film?)

What exactly is the hold up??? What can possibly take 6 months to complete?

I think Homer Simpson has the best way to describe the news: “D’oh!”

Please feel free to fill the comments with your pain. Go on… let it out. You’ll feel better.

It’s Dead… In the Dead Like Me World.

There is so little news about the upcoming Dead Like Me Movie, that this blog is basically dead for weeks at a time. Sorry about this – I’ve said it before, if anyone has any news or info AT ALL, just post in the forum, and I’ll put it on the main page for all the world to read ;)

So, what can I tell you that you may not know…

Since posting the article below about 22nd of July being the release date for the movie, it seems more certain the “July” will be the month. The exact day is still not known – but we’ll see.

There is a rumour going around that some of the cast have been required to rerecord certain parts of dialogue due to background noise from a truck. This has also been posted on the Sci Fi channel Dead Like Me Forum.

“Dead Like Me Online” has reported that there will be references to the site (and members?) in the new film. The owner is being very “hush hush” about it, and has set up a competition for people to spot the refrences. Worth a look! If any site should get a mention for helping Dead Like Me come back, it’s DLMO!!

And Finally…

BeBe, a member on here, and on Dead Like Me Online, has started posting some transcripts from Starfury last October.

Here is a little bit of what’s been put:

Susan/Bebe: Hey Ellen, I just wanted to ask did you enjoy going back to make the new DVD movie of Dead Like Me?

Ellen: Very much so, it actually, it changed a lot form the series, I can’t really say what the changes are, but I like them a lot.
We’ve lost two characters, but one has been replaced and the other one seems to have gone oo-o-off [gestures away] where we don’t know where he’s gone off, but then a new character is introduced.
And just going back and seeing the cast again, and you know, reading the new material they wrote and the new ideas that they came up with, it was a lot of fun. And we had all changed over three years, so you see us and like Mason; all of a sudden this skinny, scrawny little shit, is all of a sudden like muscular, I don’t know where that came from! And Delores lost ‘a lot’ of weight, and I still look like me but… I guess! [Giggles] Ah, but other than that, I Mean yeah, I had a good time doing it.

You can read more in the Dead Like Me Online Forum, but you will have to join.

Dead Like Me Release Date

Dead Like MeI wasn’t going to post this – but if I didn’t, when the date comes, I would be saying; “I was told this was going to be the release date months ago!” – But no one would believe me. ;-)

Here we go…

I just received an email from a claimed “insider” that the Dead Like Me Movie will be released on the July 22nd 2008. The guy (girl?) claims that the final effects are now almost complete, the DVD design is complete, and they are releasing the DVD a day before comic-con - to promote, sell DVD’s and get more buzz.

How true is this? Who can say?

If you listened to the great podcast posted over at http://justpushplayonline.com/?p=307 you will hear Ellen say that the movie will be released in July. So the “Insider” is right there – but they could have just made a day up after listening to that. ;)

I’ve search all over trying to confirm the email – there is nothing on any of the official sites, or the usual: Wikipedia, Dead Like Me online, etc.

So will July 22nd be “Day of the Dead”???

We’ll see – but if it is – you heard it here first! (If it isn’t, just pretend I said nothing)
Can anyone backup (or dismiss) this “news”??? Post in the comments, don’t email,  let’s keep it in the open… :)

Cheers.

Writers Strike is over! Yay!

Dead Like Me Movie - Writers StrikeReporting this - (Better late than never) – The writers’ strike ended over a week ago now, but just in case you didn’t know, I thought I better post it on here :-) . Well done to the writers for holding out on what they wanted! And it’s great news for fans of shows such as Lost, 24, and any other of the 6 prime time shows that have been affected. Is it good news for the new Dead Like Me Series??? Well, I cannot honestly say. I don’t know if the two writers were on strike – I’m guessing they were. So Yes! It’s good for Dead Like Me ;-)

Ellen Muth Interview

Ellen Muth InterviewAny site that gives us a link by name – deservers another mention! :)

Just Push Play have been great and split out the Ellen Muth interview sections from their full podcast, so now you can get straight to it.

There are 3 parts – and like mentioned before, keep checking back as they are going to post the FULL 35 mins interview soon! That’s going to be well worth the wait. :)

Check it out here: http://justpushplayonline.com/?p=304

Cheers :)

Dead Like Me and the Writers Strike

As most of you will know, the Writers Guild of America are currently on strike. The strike started on the 5th of November 2007 – and is still on now. It’s effecting a lot of hit shows, such as 24 and heroes. But will it affect Dead Like Me? We can assume that it won’t affect the Dead Like Me Movie. If you read the previous post – we have a link to a site where you can hear Ellen Muth say that the movie will be out in July, and is currently in Post-Production.

Wikipedia (everyone’s favourite source of information) defines Post-Production as editing the picture, editing the soundtrack, Writing and recording the soundtrack music and adding visual special. This should basically mean that the writers are no longer involved.

Where the strike “Could” effect Dead Like Me is if the show was going to go back to series. Although it is still unconfirmed, and it has already been stated that a series would only be possible if the Dead Like Me Film was taken well, would the scripts for a possible series already have been started? They would need revisions, changes, agreements, collaboration. Would all this work have started after the film had been released, and waited until the sales built up to a decent level – or would they have everything ready to get going as soon as the facts were in.

It would be great to get some solid evidence for the possibility of a new series. Have the actors signed long contracts that they would work on the show again? When Dead Like Me was originally in production – the actors were in 5 year contracts.

It would also be great to find out if the writers (credited as) Stephen Godchaux and John Masius are on strike, or have started any series script.

As soon as more info about the series, the film and any other info is found out, it’ll be posted on here. :-)
