Dead Like Me DVD Problems…
Hi All — Just a quick post this.
I see in our forum that a few people have reported problems with their new Dead Like Me: Life After Death DVD Discs (Disks?) / and the new Series 1 and 2 Disks.
Problems with the “physical quality of DVD” — causing the disks to spin out of balance, make strange noises, and even pause in certain spots.
Now i’m not saying ALL DVDs are like this — But i would like to hear if your’s are ok.
You can add your comments about your disks in the Forum (In this Topic HERE) or you can use the Poll i’ve added on the right hand side of this page.
Thanks!

We rented the DVD from Hollywood Video. It played just fine, but did have a strange vibration noise the entire time the disc was in.

I just got my DVD in yesterday from Amazon. Watched it tonight after marathoning season 2. There was a slight Pause in the DVD just before Reggie gets out of George’s car to see Hudson. Will watch again to see if it skips again. It might just be my DVD player, since it did this on my DVD of The Dark Knight the first time I watched it, but hasn’t skipped since.
Also, I loved the movie, but Not Daisy should have her own character if they reboot the series. It’s not that I don’t like her…she’s just not daisy, and I’d love to see her take on a fresh character and show us what she’s got. Probably will try to find a forum to express this more.

I noticed the hesitation on the movie DVD too, and also on the original release of season 1. I think this is due to using double layered DVD’s and the hesitation is the laser switching tracks. I’ve had this happen on many DVD’s, not just the Dead Like Me ones.

I started a forum comment on this, but – yes, we have two copies that vibrate like crazy in our machines. They wouldn’t play long enough to even load the menus in them, without the menus getting pixelated and corrupt. I had an old panasonic dvd player that seemed to be a bit more forgiving on allowing vibration, but the whole time I played the movie, the dvd howled like a fan was running in it…
I can honestly say I have never had a studio-released dvd act like this.

When I rented a copy, it buzzed like mad but stopped after the first two scenes.

My first dvd from Amazon vibrated the player and made a loud buzzing during disc access points. That’s why I didn’t vote – I had both experiences.
The exchanged dvd is perfect. I also noted the above mentioned pause in the movie and the commentary version.

The first time I watched the disc I had no problems at all. The second time, I had the same issue as #2 above where just as Reggie is about to get out of the car to see Hudson it freezes. I couldn’t fast-forward/rewind. Had to take the disc out and it played the next time around.

Movie version. Tried two disks from two different location (same chain) and nether would work. Sounded like the disk was bouncing around in the drive. Sucked remind why piracy isn’t the right option. With that I would have had a working copy…..

Rent if from VUDU. VUDU has it available in HD with their HD and HDX titles. I plan on watching my HDX rental of DEAD LIKE ME: Life after Death tonight.
It should be much better in HD than in SD from the DVD. Plus I always watched the series in HD when it originally aired so that is the only way I’ve seen it.

Season 2 Disc 2 causes a loud whirring noise and vibration in pretty much all dvd players. No apparent flaws on the disc.
Is there a way to remedy this? Do you replace faulty discs? I placed my order from amazon which don’t offer an exchange they require a full return to refund then you have to reorder it, which is no guarantee that the next copy will be any better off than my last copy seeing as its a known issue.

I recently purchased the dvd from ebay (it was brand new/sealed) and when i tried playing it, it was making a REALLY loud vibration noise. It was so loud that I didnt even bother watching it in fear that it would damage my dvd player. I was really looking forward to seeing this movie
Have you fixed this problem??
