I can’t even finish the movie..
it’s not like the series at all.

I started watching the show ages and ages ago but then dropped off for some time. I finally caught up this week, finishing up Season 2 and jumping onto the Movie. I was excited! I mean in a week I felt so attached to these characters…only to be met with disappointment. As everyone else said, new Daisy was not needed. I mean she went back to day 1 Daisy only more annoying and just…forced. It really felt forced all of the humor, etc. Plus didn’t we watch Daisy in the series transform? She went from this full of herself girl to a girl we started to see that had deeper t houghts that she hid away. This Daisy was just…a whore who was too into herself and then when Mason tried to show he cared, it just wasn’t believable with the way she acted because Mason never did like that Daisy, he liked the other one we saw so later on in the Series.

George stayed the same THANK GOD. I started to get worried when her hair was a bit more done up. Delores was hilarious as usual. The new guy in charge I feel wasn’t around for too long for us to really make a statement about him. And I agree Roxie would have never done something so selfish. She never cared about promotion or being in the spotlight. Reggie was just, well…different. And was anyone else bothered by the fact that the girl that was George’s mirror image was just a completely different girl than the series?

I’d love to leave a constructive review but all that comes to mind is What the f**k? Definitly missed the boat with the movie….everything that was great about the tv series….was not apparent in the movie. Greatly disappointed!

I was so excited to watch this movie! I’ve been waiting years! But about twenty minutes in I paused it because I was so lost! Reggie is preppy? Joy suddenly stopped flipping? Der Waffle house had to go, really?? And don’t get me started on Roxy and Mason. Completely not themselves! Roxy suddenly flipped bricks and lost all her values and Mason got even more shallow and lost all the charm. George was wonderful as always, but what really killed the movie for me was Daisy. She suddenly stopped being a classy lady (albeit a bit slutty) and she turned into a temper tantrum throwing spaz! She lost all of her ladylike qualities and replaced them with cheesy overacting. They should have just axed the Daisy character. I’m so sad because this movies was a death knell to the series. Goodbye Dead Like Me!

This movie has nothing to do with the show: the wit, the lightness and the sharp surrealist humor is all gone, replaced by a melodramatic storyline, boring to infinite. The movie takes itself too seriously… What is missing is not Rube or Laura Harris, is the hand of the creator of the show, Bryan Fuller. I wish i hadnt seen the movie, and i cannot get why actors agreeded to take part in such a lame movie with this childish script… Obviously the writers and director dont like or understand the show. Huge dissapointment and loose of time and money.

Can I just say a few words,while trying not to spoil?

I’ve been a “Dead like me” fan for a few years,but never got around to watching all 2 seasons,until this day.I’ve always liked the idea,and after a few days of watching,I was hooked and thrilled when I found out there was a movie released in 2009.

But….butttt….alright,I’m completely honest here and not hating….this had nothing to do with the fact that “Rube” was missing.Not at all.Though the fact did make me sad,he was a very likable character,I leaped into this movie with a clear mind,high hopes and happiness….but was awfully disappointed.

To put it simply,after a 5 year lapse,I’d understand the actors forgetting to act in character,but this was just insulting.What they did to “Daisy” seemed like a parody and joke,especially at a certain “theater” scene (sorry if it’s spoiling).It was just offensive….it literally hurt while I watched,physically and mentally.

The other characters were also out of it,but I would’ve let it go if Rube’s replacement and the new Daisy were more believable.The plot was rushed and everything was far-fetched…I can put a hand on my heart and say Muth was the only one who did a good job,hate on her if you will,but that was George,in my eyes.

Disappointing and depressing.I guess after a 5 year lapse you can’t ask for much and I’m understanding,however….this just put me down.I just saw it,20 minutes ago,and maybe it’s too fresh in my head to be this offending,however,these are my thoughts.Sorry.They should’ve just let it go,it didn’t work for me.

I just watched the entire 2 seasons the last week or so, and then the movie just now. The series was amazing because it was so well written that all of the characters seemed like real people, and the acting was very, very good. There was a consistancy to the series that I have to give the writers credit for. I think Bryan Fuller was an integral part of making it so consistant, entertaining, and believable. Clearly the movie was not written by the same people, and I think the absence of Bryan Fuller really shows in the movie. it is very hard to do what he did with that series. It would draw you in, and nothing ever seemed to draw you out of it. The movie, sadly, was quite different. It was like when they re-make a great movie in that it rarely works out well. As other people have said, the Daisy character was so wonderful and complex on the series (and well acted), while the movie one was not at all up to par. Rube and the waffle haus were sorely missed as the anchors of the show. Just not as good.

I enjoyed the series so much (I still re-watch episodes on Hulu at times) that there was no way that I could miss out on seeing the movie, no matter what reviewers were saying. I am pretty upset to report that the film did not do the series justice at all. Not having all of the original cast and producer pretty much killed it. The script was very poorly done and I’m not even certain that it was written by anyone who worked on or even watched the original series. Roxy completely lost her original edge and sass. Mason was not the tragic but good-hearted fuckup I remember him as. Daisy… might as well have been another character altogether she was so different. The only characters who I felt remained relatively true to their original selves in the series were Reggie, Joy and George. It really bums me out because I was looking forward to seeing the emotional connection between Daisy and Mason in this film. With a completely new actress and a god awful script that mutated the characters’ personalities, it just couldn’t be done. No Rube, no Kiffany, a random new boss man in a suit… too many changes that pulled the film far far away from its original place in the series.

They do leave it open in the end for a continuation of the series, but with all the original cast already off working on other series I don’t see it happening. I will say though that if Ellen Muth were to continue the series on with a new cast I would be the first one to give it a chance.

the series was great but the movie was absolutely terrible with all the changes that were made it was just to much. you have to remember that the people watching the movie is just a small cult following its not a large group. and after seeing the movie and reading all of the reviews do you really think there going to waste any more time on this series. i highly doubt that its good to be optimistic but lets be honest here the movie did not go over well and thats what they were basing there decision on if they were going to continue the series or not so i think its time to let it go. a new series would be great but its just wishful thinking so enjoy the 2 seasons you do have because i dont see them continuing with a 3rd
